Light at the End of the Spiral
Light at the End of the Spiral
oil on canvas
48 x 36 inches
This piece was painted in April 2020. We all know what the year 2020 means. It was the beginning of the pandemic, and no one knew how long it would last. I needed to paint, I needed to release emotions and pent-up energy. As so often is the case with my art, I have an idea of what the piece is going to be about, but it changes along the way. My original concept eventually lost meaning because as the painting changed so did I. The painting and I met somewhere in the middle of beauty and chaos. I was no longer afraid of the unknown illness. I was no longer fearful for humanity because I saw the light at the end of the spiral, and it was Love.
